What is a Moot?

A moot (n) is an Old English word for a gathering or assembly.  The term Moodle Moot has become the default name for a conference focused around the learning management system, Moodle.

Why a School Moodle Moot?

The School Moodle Moot is an informal gathering where you will meet teachers and other educational professionals who are interested in teaching and training and who are eager to make connections and collaborate with others. Choose from a wide range of workshops and plenary sessions led by experienced teachers and Moodle users eager to share their knowledge.

KeynotesIt is with great pleasure that today we announce our major keynote speakers for School Moodlemoot 2013.

This year we have endeavored to assemble a collection of engaging Keynote speakers who are leading the way in both Moodle as well as innovative use of ICT in the K-12 sector. I am proud to say that I think we have met this requirement in spades with this years lineup.

Calling Out

We are delighted to open the call for presentation submissions for the Australian School MoodleMoot 2013 being held at the SCEGGS Daringhurst, Sydney on July 11-13 2013.

Sharing your experiences using Moodle and learning from others is one of the main reasons for attending a Moodlemoot. Our theme this year is "Pathways to Moodle Success" as part of that theme we are seeking sessions explaining the many ways members in our wide community have achieved it.

Ent MootTo the uninitiated the term “Moodle moot” sounds like an odd choice to describe a moodle conference. The term “moots” originated in Oxford.  J.R.R. Tolkien was twice Professor of Anglo-Saxon at the University of Oxford. While there he wrote "The Hobbit", "The Lord of The Rings", "The Silmarillion" and a number of other works.
